Bible Journaling: Numbers 4

There were three clans within the tribe of Levi. In Numbers 4, we are told what the specific duties of each of these clans, within the larger tribe of Levi, were. Aside from the priests themselves, there were many duties to be performed in and around the service of the tabernacle. The Kohathites were responsible for taking care of the most sacred items, the Gershonites for general service and carrying, whilst the Merarites were to be carriers only. I find it thrilling to think that God had a specific duty for each of these people. I believe this is still true for each one of us, even if we are only called to carry a burden for Him. Imagine that! The chapter ends on a register taken of the Levites. I used Gelatos to colour the background in the shape of a tent, to remind of the Tabernacle. Then I included both decorative, as well as topical stickers to the margins to illustrate the chapter.

Chapter 4 looks like this in the Inspire Praise Bible.

I treat my pages with Dala Acrylic Clear Gesso.

The pages look like this once the gesso dries.

I use Tim Holtz Distress Stain to lift out a passage that stands out to me. It is in Numbers 4:17-20 and speaks of the holiness of God.
17 Then the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, 18 “Do not let the Kohathite clans be destroyed from among the Levites! 19 This is what you must do so they will live and not die when they approach the most sacred objects. Aaron and his sons must always go in with them and assign a specific duty or load to each person. 20 The Kohathites must never enter the sanctuary to look at the sacred objects for even a moment, or they will die.”

I colour the pages with Faber Castell Gelatos.

Here is a close-up of the colours I used.

I use a wet wipe to blend the Gelatos.

I then find this sticker sheet to illustrate the idea of carrying things while travelling.

I also include some stickers a friend gave me.

That concludes my journaling of this chapter in Numbers.
