Bible Journaling - Exodus 13

God did not simply 'buy' the liberty of the Israelites with the blood of the Egyptian children and reckon this to be a slight thing. He values life and expected the Israelites to value it as well. As a result, God institutes a proclamation in which He instructs the Israelites to sacrifice all of the firstborn of their animals to Him. Certain animals could be bought back, while others would have to be killed. All the firstborn Israelite children also belonged to God, but God never approved of human sacrifices, therefore these children also had have ransoms paid for their lives. I opted to illustrate this chapter with two toys which are closely associated with small children, a teddy bear and a rocking horse.

Exodus 13 looks like this in the Inspire Praise Bible.

I treat the pages by coating them with a layer of Zellen Clear Gesso.

Once dry, the pages look like this.

I use an HB pencil to draw a teddy bear on the left hand page.

I then draw a rocking horse on the opposite page.

This is what the pages looked like side by side.

I used Derwent Inktense pencils to paint the rocking horse. I used a Pentel Aqua Brush to dilute the pencil with.

I painted the teddy bear in the with the same mediums and equipment.

What my pages looked like when I was done.
