Bible Journaling - Exodus 27 & 28

Exodus 27 continues with the plans that were given for the making of the sacred objects that were to be used in the Tabernacle; the Altar of Burnt Offering, the Courtyard and the Light of the Tabernacle. In chapter 28, the designs are communicated for the items of clothing to be worn by the high priest and his sons. I decide to focus in on the Ephod and the breastpiece, especially the 12 gemstones that were to represent the twelve tribes of Israel. I show you how I journaled this in pictures in today's blog entry.

Exodus 27 & 28 look like this in the Inspire Praise Bible.

I seal the pages with Zellen Clear Gesso.

The pages look like this once the gesso has dried.

I did some research and came across this handy picutre of the gemstones on the internet. However, the tribe of Joseph was split into Ephraim and Menasseh, while the tribe of  Dan was left out altogether. Not a problem, I only needed to see the stones for references anyway, and this was much simpler than finding 12 individual photos of the particular stones.

I started by dividing my margins into twelve equally aized rectangles with a ruler and and a Micron pen.

I then used Derwent Inktense pencils to draw the stones. I activated the Inktense with a Pentel Aquash Brush. I added a shadow for each stone with a Micron pen with a brush tip.

I added numbers and names to each block with a Faber Castell Pitt Pen.

The completed layout.
